Tennis Goes to State!!
The BC Herons tennis team recently competed in the 14 and under division of the USTA’s Junior Team Tennis State Championships held in Macon on July 31-August 2. The Herons from Brantley County excelled in the competition in their first year of playing, going 3-1 against two teams from Atlanta and teams from Cherokee County and Bleckley County. They finished in second place in their group, trailing the first place team by a total games score
of 125-122.
There were 130 teams, 1150 players, and 17 leagues that competed in the State Championships in Macon, with players ranging from 9 to 18-years old. USTA Junior Team Tennis is the largest youth tennis program in the area, helping girls and boys to get in the game, get on the court, and have a good time.
